Energy is one of the most important yet critical factors of a nation. India is a vast country that is progressing in many aspects and Energy is among the key components of the economic development of the country. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) is one of the elite educational institutes across the country which has commenced and included a new course in its curriculum, the Course is Energy Science and Engineering.
IIT Guwahati has launched the B.Tech course in Energy Science and Engineering. Along with IIT Guwahati, IIT Delhi has also included the Energy Science and Engineering Course in its curriculum, since 2021. IIT Guwahati and IIT Delhi will be offering Undergraduate Degrees for interested and eligible candidates.
Importance of Energy Science and Engineering
Being an interdisciplinary course, Energy Engineering finds a huge scope in the Indian environment as it is a broad category. The course will aid the aspirants and equip them with relevant knowledge and skills that include assessment and characterization of various energy resources, design, and development of various energy technologies and systems, selection of appropriate technologies amongst different alternatives, and contribution towards the transition to a low carbon economy.
The Energy Science and Engineering course will add a new dimension to the students, who will be pursuing the course by studying energy efficiency, renewable energy systems, nuclear energy, plasma science and technology, oil and gas, wind and large-small-hydro, bio-energy, solar photovoltaic, modeling and simulations, energy policy and management, power engineering, combustion engineering and alternative fuels, energy storage, and others.
The candidates who are willing to get admitted to this newly introduced B.Tech course by the IIT Guwahati will be accomplished on the basis of the marks of JEE Advanced, personal interview round, and overall admission scores of the candidate. The final selection of candidates for admission seats will be done through the final merit list released by the institute.
The tuition fee for the BTech course for general, EWS, and OBC category candidates is Rs 1,52,150 while Rs 85,483 for OEB category candidates. There is no tuition fee for students belonging to SC/ST category.
The candidates who will be Graduating in the Energy Science and Engineering Course, offered by the IIT Guwahati and IIT Delhi will be able to grasp an excellent career in the Oil and Gas Industry, Energy Production Companies, or in Government and University Research. With gaining the experience, the candidates can move into Planning, Policy Development, or freelance consultancy.
